El Zapateado Paceño

Dancers of the 3rd generation of Oro Lenca perform Zapateado Paceño at the Festival Internacional in Alexandria, Virginia USA, in September 2012.

The dancers are wearing the costume of Las Chilcas, which originates from the village of Las Chilcas located in the municipality of Orocuina, Choluteca. This costume was used by the Cuadro Nacional de Danzas Folclóricas de Honduras in the 1950s until for unknown reasons they stopped using it. The costume nearly disappeared, but after exhaustive research it was restored to use.
