How to Participate

Oro Lenca always looks for talented dancers, singers and musicians who want to be part of the Oro Lenca family. Oro Lenca offers an opportunity for young people to grow artistically and personally in this unique group that proudly represents La Esperanza, Intibuca and Honduras both here and abroad.

Dancers must be 15 years of age or older and live in or near La Esperanza. Auditions usually take place once a year, in March, but contact us if you or someone you know has an interest. We sometimes also accept talented "exchange students" from Honduran folk dance groups abroad who wish to advance their skills for a month or two in the heartland of Honduran folklore and creole dance.

Help with Administration and Operations

We are always looking for people who are passionate about the performing arts, community development, youth initiatives and general management to participate or join our Board of Directors. There are a variety of openings in committees, including income development, finance, grants and archives, and family support. Volunteers are not required to have previous history with Oro Lenca. We seek to complement our board with new volunteers who bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm, skills and a sincere passion for what Oro Lenca means for our community and the youth of Honduras.

We entertain invitations to perform for national or international organizations or to provide dancers to perform abroad or at home with musical groups that wish to add the striking color and motion of traditional Honduran folkloric dance.

In October, we always welcome with gratitude hands that are willing to help us prepare and present the national folklore festival, El Grande de Grandes.
